{ Fanlistings }

Quoting The Fanlistings Network, a fanlisting is a "place for all fans of a particular show, movie, actor/actress, singer, etc. to come together and build the biggest listing of people from all around the world who are fans of that subject."

  { Densha Otoko }

Densha Otoko (Train Man) is a television series based on the enormously popular Internet love story. The story tells of a 23-year-old otaku (Japanese geek) who intervenes when a drunk man harasses several women on a train and later receives expensive cups from one of the women as a thank you. The otaku tells of the incident on a Japanese mega-BBS 2channel, and as the users encourage him to contact the woman he finally does so and manages to get a date scheduled. After this the otaku continues to share his thoughts and updates on the situation on the channel to thousands of anonymous users who give him advice and encouragement til the day the two finally become a couple.

The drama series aired from July 7 to September 22, 2005 (with a special episode on October 6, 2005) starring Atsushi Ito as Densha Otoko and Misaki Ito as Hermes. The drama ended up quite a success and keeps charming more and more people with its sweet, sympathetic and sometimes plain fun plot. To learn more about the TV show, please head to Wikipedia.

  { Henshin }

Why "henshin", you ask? For those annoyed by random Japanese used by fangirls, I'll defend myself by telling that the term seemed very appropriate for the fanlisting and worked best in its Japanese form.
    Literally translated "Henshin" means "to change or transform", and in manga and anime it's used to describe the transformation of magical girls and boys (for example, when Usagi turns into her Sailor Moon form). I figured the term was rather appropriate as Densha otoko also went through a transformation of body and mind (changing his looks and gathering courage for Hermes), and the fact that the term had an otaku background didn't hurt either.
